NYS Perinatal Health

Perinatal health can be defined as a continuum of healthy practices, beginning before pregnancy occurs and continuing through the prenatal and postpartum periods.

More than 70% of the users of all health care and medical services in the United States are women and children. Healthy birth outcomes are important not only to parents, but are essential for the quality of life, economic prosperity and long term vitality of families, communities, states and nations.
